This scientific concept was relatively unknown at the time, but has since gained recognition and popularity within the health industry! Latest scientific research has proven the power of this method, for healing the body, the mind and attaining our best figure.
WHY IS FASTING SO POWERFUL
Upgrade your Immune System
According to research done by the University of Southern California, while we fast, the hematopoietic system, which is in charge of regulating our blood and immune system, produces higher amounts of stem cells. As these stem cells divide, they produce higher levels of younger, healthier cells with longer telomeres, specifically formulated to reconstruct our immune systems.
That means to you, that by fasting, you will turn on the switch, where your body goes through your entire immune system and tags all the cells that are broken, old or sickly. Your body’s storage of little baby cells, are then activated and programmed to replace these damaged cells, giving you a brand new immune system!
Boost Human Growth Hormone
The Human Growth Hormone is a peptide hormone that stimulates growth during childhood and puberty. The levels of Human Growth Hormone in fully grown adults affect the rate of aging. Fasting vastly increases levels of this hormone in our blood, accelerating the renewal process of our cells. It helps us generate collagen synthesis, in the skeletal muscles and tendons, helping us build muscle. HGH further accelerates lipolysis, promoting fat loss.

According to the Huffington Post, intermittent fasting can lengthen your telomeres, by protecting our DNA from deterioration during cell division and from free radicals. The Journal of Fasting and Health states that fasting can change our expression of genes regarding how our bodies react to stress, and our protection against cardiovascular and endocrine diseases.
This means to you that fasting can change your genetic makeup! That means, despite inheriting unhealthy genes, you can take back control of your health and longevity. This really means to you, that you have in your own hands the power to change your future health, despite the hand you were dealt with through your DNA, or whatever lifestyle you chose to live previously.
Regenerate Cells
During fasting periods, your cells will repair themselves at a cellular level by digesting and removing old and dysfunctional proteins that build up inside our cells that cause us to age and become sick. This process is called autophagy, and a Japanese scientist won a Nobel Prize for his discovery.
This means to you, that you turn on a detector that goes through all your cells, and gets rid of bits and pieces that are old and damaged, that could have the potential to turn into something serious in the future. Parts of these cells are then recycled to create newer, better parts, whilst other cells are destroyed entirely then rebuilt from scratch. Fasting essentially spring cleans your entire body and allows it to heal itself automatically!

According to the University of Bridgeport, Norepinephrine, or noradrenaline, a fat burning hormone, is released into your bloodstream while you fast intermittently. Your insulin levels also lower, allowing stored body fat more accessible as energy usage. So what this means to you is, your body turns into a fat burning machine! Instead of burning sugar, your body now starts to burn your own body fat as energy.
HOW DO WE INCORPORATE FASTING?
What does the 2 stand for?
This stands for the first form of fasting we will incorporate in our program, where we will not be eating any solid foods for 2 days. Don’t worry, you won’t be starving. We will fill ourselves up with a combination of freshly pressed vegetable juices, aloe vera juice, herbal teas, clear soups, non-dairy milks and gallons of water!
What does the 5 stand for?
This stands for the 5 following days in the program where you will be eating solid foods, but you will observe another form of intermittent fasting, by following the 8/16 rule. This means eating within a 8 hour eating window, and fasting for 16 hours. These 16 hours include your sleeping time, so it’s not as hard as it sounds. The more hours you sleep, the less ‘fasting’ hours you will have to do! During your fasting hours, you can continue to consume vegetable juices, aloe vera juice or herbal teas, which will not hinder your results. During your 8 hour eating window, you may enjoy a wide variety of nutritious, wholesome sources of clean foods, and a balance of protein, fat and complex carbohydrates.
